There are several options for waste treatment, but the most common for tiny houses is a combination of a composting toilet alongside a grey water treatment system. The composting toilet diverts liquid waste and turns solid waste into compost. Odour-free, with the potential to save up to 35,000L of water per year, it's certainly a very good system to look into and one that "living small" accommodates well.
Generally speaking, the end product once treated through filters and traps is certified for direct release into the landscape, however it is always best to check with your local council for any specific requirements for off-grid treatment of waste. We are more than happy to talk through your options for your specific location and help you get the appropriate information.
Mike is a qualified builder and electrician so your cabin comes with a building P.S.3 and Electrical Certificate.
Sure can, this is another fantastic option to talk through and we can help answer any questions.
100% comfortable all through the year. Along with the fully insulated ceilings, walls and underfloor, a smaller space you will save on electricity through heating and our cabins also have generous windows / sliding doors to create good airflow through those warmer months too.
We certainly think so. It gives you more options to live sustainably in a smaller space while still being comfortable. The potential to live off grid, as well as looking into composting waste systems, encourages an eco friendly approach to your lifestyle without giving up home comforts.
